The Bodega Ca’n Axartell is located in an old quarry.
Only the northern oriented main facade of the building lets you recognize the building, because it’s completely integrated in the mountain and covered by an intensive green roof. The adjacent tunnel at the side of the building, which reminds you of a prehistoric cave, allows with its independent climate, the unloading of the freshly harvested ecologic grapes. In its function as an element of passive gaining energy its protecting the south facing facade of the building against the heat of the sun and together with other renewable energies, such as geothermic heat pumps, solar panels and natural illumination through skylights, is it improving vastly the energy consumption of the building.
